3 things I am doing to purge

January is one of my favorite months because it is the perfect month to start FRESH! I don't know about you but I am one of those girls that can't start a diet or a new thing expect on Mondays. I know stupid and silly but that's me! January is like the ultimate Monday.  It's the time I choose to clean out, and start new things! Start Fresh! Which is exactly what I am doing. Purging and starting fresh. But if I am completely honest the thought of purging and deep cleaning is stressful to me. I HATE to clean!  Which is exactly why I decided to do a massive purge. To get back to the basics so there is less to pick up and clean! LOL! But where the heck do I even start! What do I do first. Do you hear the panic setting in? If you are in my boat but desperately want to simplify and purge this month here are 3 things that I have found to be very helpful.

1. Make a list

This was the biggest thing for me. I had all these things swirling in my head that I wanted to do and it felt very overwhelming. I needed to get it out of my head and on paper. Once I sat down and wrote everything out it started to be less stressful and felt more obtainable. I prioritized what I wanted to accomplish first and then scheduled it. I decided to do one deep clean/purge a week. That way I don't feel like I have to do it all at once. 

2. Use the last 6 month rule

As I am cleaning and purging I am using the last 6 month rule. If I haven't used it or wore it in the last 6 months out it goes. Some things I am using the "last year" rule. But basically if I didn't use it anytime in 2019, goodbye! 

3. Ask yourself "Why am I saving this" 

I mainly used this when going through my home decor and decoration closet. Which was BAD! I discovered that I was a home decor hoarder. I was holding on to things that "I might use" again. But lets be real. If and when I change home decor I am going to buy new. There will be new trends and I will want a new look. Not an old one. So out it goes! 

2020 I am simplifying! I know people say that ALL the time but I am for real. I want to open every drawer and closet in my home and be able to see everything and know that everything in that area will be used this year. Not just sitting there collection dust!
